Registration is essential: RSS – Discussion paper meetings Contributing to the discussion We emphasise that everyone is welcome to submit discussion contributions for any discussion paper, which are all published in the journal along with the paper – there is no requirement to be e.g. an RSS member, a statistician or at a particular career stage – it is open to everyone worldwide and a great way to bring the community together over a common topic of interest. If you wish to contribute informally on the day comments can be made without the obligation to publish, if that is preferred. Contact us in advance on journal@rss.org.uk to reserve a speaking slot of up to 5 minutes, or just decide on the day. Written contributions We welcome contributions to the discussion in writing at any time before 01 July 2024, including from anyone who can’t attend. Contributions received before 31 May will be read at the meeting, if time allows. Written comments should be up to 400 words in length (not including tables, reference details and figures). After being accepted by the Discussion Papers Editor, Adam Sykulski, it will be sent on to the authors of the discussion paper to consider when composing their written reply for the journal. It will then be sent onto OUP, our publisher, who will contact you in due course for proofing and licensing. In the meantime, it will be published online with a DOI in Advance Articles on the OUP/RSS website. Comments must contain the following as the header: [Discussant name]’s contribution to the Discussion of [Paper name] by [Author surname(s)] adding below this your name, title, affiliation and email address as the corresponding author. Submit your written contribution in editable format (Word or TeX file) with a PDF file for review and a separate PDF file for any figure to the ScholarOne manuscript submission system for Series C: ScholarOne Manuscripts (manuscriptcentral.com). Select ‘Discussion paper contribution’ as the article type. We look forward to seeing you.
