Program Chair’s Role

The Program Chair’s main responsibility is the invited session program.

Sessions

Reach out to the WNAR leadership to find out how many sessions IMS will have. It is usually 4-6.

You may have a medallion lecture as part of your allocation. Reach out to the IMS Executive Director, Elyse Gustafson <erg@imstat.org> to check on this before planning the rest of your program.

Money for Speakers

Medallion and Named Lecturers are reimbursed for $2000 for travel expenses plus the cost of registration.

For all other invited speakers, there is no IMS money regardless of the circumstances. When the meetings are joint sometimes the joint partnership has money. It does not hurt to ask.

Scheduling

The Program Chair should schedule each session while thinking about what should be concurrent and what should stand alone along with appropriate room size for a speaker.
