This June, the WNAR–IMS–JR (Japanese Region) meeting that was due to take place in Anchorage, Alaska, was canceled because of the pandemic. However, WNAR was committed to supporting student researchers and so the student paper competition still went ahead, with 24 students participating. One of the winners in the written category was Kwangho Kim, Carnegie Mellon University, who is an IMS student member, for his paper, “Causal Clustering”. The other written category winner was Lingjing Jiang, University of California San Diego, and the winner in the oral category was Jinyuan Liu, UC San Diego. See
