The Institute of Mathematical Statistics has selected Huixia Wang as the winner of this year’s Tweedie New Researcher Award. Dr. Wang received her PhD in 2006 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of North Carolina State.

The IMS Travel Awards Committee, selected Dr. Wang  “For deep and varied contributions to the theory and applications of quantile regression, and for outstanding collaborative statistical research in a wide variety of areas, including genomics, cytometry, neuroimaging and wildlife science; and for service to the profession.”

The IMS Tweedie New Researcher Award will fund Dr. Wang’s travel to present the Tweedie New Researcher Invited Lecture at the IMS New Researchers’ Conference, held this year in San Diego, CA, USA in July.
