The IMS supports professional meetings through sponsorship or co-sponsorship. Support takes the form of IMS endorsement, advertisement, and access to IMS travel awards for attendees. The IMS does not offer financial support for sponsored or co-sponsored meetings. For some sponsored meetings the IMS will share in profits/losses (see below).

Co-sponsored meeting

Apply for IMS Co-sponsorship here.

Requirements:

* Approval by the IMS Council Subcommittee on Co-sponsored meetings
* Meeting organizers must ensure that there is IMS participation on the Program Committee
* For meetings with contributed paper sessions (including poster sessions) where the full text of a paper to be presented is NOT subject to significant competitive review by the program committee, IMS members should be able to present papers. For meetings where the full text of a contributed paper is subject to substantial competitive review by the Program Committee, IMS members should be able to submit papers for review and consideration for presentation.
* There can be no exposure of the IMS to financial loss.

Benefits:

* The IMS Bulletin will publish general information about the meeting, including the call for papers, and a brief program consisting of the invited sessions. (It is the responsibility of the organizers to provide the necessary information to the Bulletin at bulletin@imstat.org in a timely fashion.)
* Meeting announcements are eligible for inclusion in the monthly IMS eNews.
* The IMS can send the meeting information out via IMS social media channels (Twitter and Facebook).  Send announcements to ims@imstat.org
* Meeting information will be made available on the IMS website.
* Attendees are eligible to apply for IMS Travel Awards.
* Meeting organizers have access to IMS membership for collaboration in program development.

Permanent Co-sponsored Meeting

Requirements:

* Initial approval by the IMS Council
* Meeting organizers must ensure that there is IMS participation on the Program Committee
* For meetings with contributed paper sessions (including poster sessions) where the full text of a paper to be presented is NOT subject to significant competitive review by the program committee, IMS members should be able to present papers. For meetings where the full text of a contributed paper is subject to substantial competitive review by the Program Committee, IMS members should be able to submit papers for review and consideration for presentation.
* There can be no exposure of the IMS to financial loss.
* The conference must already have been organized at regular intervals during the past five years.

Benefits:

* The IMS Bulletin will publish general information about the meeting, including the call for papers, and a brief program consisting of the invited sessions. (It is the responsibility of the organizers to provide the necessary information to the Bulletin at bulletin@imstat.org in a timely fashion.)
* Meeting information will be made available on the IMS web site, and meeting announcements are eligible for inclusion in the monthly IMS eNews and in IMS social media channels.
* Attendees are eligible to apply for IMS Travel Awards.
* Meeting organizers have access to IMS membership for collaboration in program development.

Review:

* Every ten years, the organizers will be reminded by the IMS Executive Director to send a progress report for the past 10 years. This report will be reviewed by the IMS Council’s subcommittee for co-sponsorship of meetings. The report should include a brief description of co-sponsored meetings held during the past 10 years. The description should at least include meeting location, organizers, program committee (with an indication of which members were IMS members), invited speakers, number of participants, number of invited papers/contributed papers/posters for each meeting.
* On the basis of this report, the subcommittee reviewing the report can
(a) Accept the report and renew the co-sponsorship for another period
of 10 years, or
(b) Ask for some clarification or revision of procedures, and then grant another 10 years of co-sponsorship, or
(c) Terminate the permanent co-sponsorship, effectively returning the meeting to requesting year-to-year co-sponsorship. (A return to permanent co-sponsorship might be allowed later if the conditions that prompted the change to year-to-year co-sponsorship have been corrected. Such a return to permanent status would, however, require full Council approval, similar to what an initial application requires.)

Application:

To apply for IMS Permanent co-sponsorship, please submit the following:
* Application form for co-sponsorship (with specific details about the next meeting planned)
* One page description of the ongoing nature and aims of the meeting, the anticipated future organizers (as far as this is known), and the history of the organizers, invited speakers, attendance and locations over the past 5 years.
