The American Public Health Association (APHA) has selected Xihong Lin to receive the Lowell Reed Lecture Award from the APHA Health Statistics Section. The award is presented annually to a statistician who has made significant contributions to public health through research, teaching, and/or service. The lecture honors the legacy of Dr. Lowell Reed, who served as Chair of Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (1926), Dean of the School (1937–1946), and later as President of Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Lin, who is Professor of Statistics and Professor of Biostatistics, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Statistics Department Chair, delivered the Lowell Reed Lecture, titled “Navigating Statistics, Generative AI, and Genomics Health,” on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the 2025 APHA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
