Statement regarding professional conduct at meetings

created 19  Dec  2017

The IMS leadership is deeply concerned by recent reports of unprofessional conduct at several meetings of professional statisticians. We are committed to ensuring that all of our activities are free from discrimination or harassment of any type. To make clear what is expected, in consultation with other statistical societies, we have begun the process of reviewing our codes of conduct for meetings. We are also establishing an ad hoc ethics committee, which will be tasked with laying out a more detailed ethical code to cover all aspects of IMS activities.
